Ivete Sangalo








She was born in Juazeiro, Bahia, on May 27th, 1972. She has been a phenomenon of the music of late years. She started get interested in music when she was three years old.
When she was a teenager, she used to sing and play the guitar in child plays, parties and introduced her self in the school.
The professional first appearance was in a pub in Salvador. Little by little, Ivete started appearing in Bahia and Pernambuco. She was invited to open Geraldo Azevedo´s show and in a short time, she was invited to participate in a “micareta” (carnival out of the season).
Her producer, Jonga Cunha, realized she was talented and produced a show where Ivete Sangalo emphasized the funk in August, 1992. By means of this show, she won the Trophy Caymmi 1992, the Grammy of Bahia´s music.




With the crescent public, Ivete and her band joined the Project “Meio-Dia”, in 1993 and Jorge Cunha suggested editing again the extinct Banda Eva with Ivete as a lead singer.
The second CD into three hits: “Alô, Paixão”; “Pra abalar” and “Flores”. Another big hit was “Carro velho”. The 6 CDs of the Banda Eva sold 4 millions and a half of copies.

Ivete, after that, started a solo career and made her first CD in 1999. She recorded 6 CDs from 2000 till 2005: “Beat Beleza” (2000), “Festa” (2001), “Se eu não te amasse tanto assim” (2002), “Clube carnavalesco inocentes em progresso” (2003) e “MTV ao vivo” (2004), “As super novas” (2005). Celebrating 12 years of career, she recorded the unedited album “As super novas”. The title is a joke to the previous the before CD, the “MTV Ao Vivo”, included old hits of Ivete.
